Intensive English for Banking

The English Matters Intensive English for Banking Programme is designed to empower banking professionals with the skills and confidence they need to get the most of out the English language in the workplace. Through a series of fun and engaging activities, trainees improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and learn about the key ingredients for successful communication.

Aims and objectives

The English Matters  Intensive English for Banking Programme is ideal for banking professionals who would like to improve the way they communicate with colleagues and customers in the English language. The main objective of the programme is to give trainees confidence. By the end of the course, trainees will feel empowered and well-rehearsed in the English skills they need to communicate in any professional situation.

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Understand basic mechanics of the English language, including punctuation and syntax
  • Have an increased vocabulary
  • Be able to write clear and meaningful sentences
  • Be able to write sentences and paragraphs that flow in a logical manner
  • Be clear, accurate and confident in speaking in a number of different scenarios
  • Be able to prepare and give a simple presentation/speech to a small audience
  • Have enhanced reading and listening skills
  • Be able to communicate confidently with colleagues and customers, even in stressful circumstances
  • Understand key principles of business writing
  • Understand the key components of a business writing style
  • Understand the importance of audience and purpose and learn how to accommodate a multiple audience
  • Learn easy tools for organising and planning their writing
  • Understand the tone and “you attitude” required for business writing
  • Learn the standard structure and requirements for day-to-day correspondence with a special emphasis on email
